‘Networking Race’

Networking can be identified as one of the key tactics that can be used to find job opportunities. In Finland it can be considered as one of the most successful methods compared to other countries. However, there is a big question mark on whether the students truly know how to network using modern technology. By identifying this gap, Patteri & XAMK collaboratively organized the “Networking Race” event on the 25^th January 2024 at Kouvola City Campus premises. It was a full house event with the participation of Digital International Business degree students at XAMK.

Sanna Tukiainen, a talented recruitment consultant from Eezy Personnel was the key speaker of the session. The focus of this session was on how to create and improve a LinkedIn profile in a professional manner in order to attract organizations, recruiters and head hunters. She highlighted LinkedIn profile building techniques, how to use LinkedIn as a job searching tool, and also how to broaden our network using the LinkedIn.

In the second segment of the session, the project manager of Patteri, Sabina Akhmetova presented several available training opportunities in Kouvola and explained the requirements and qualifications to apply for them.

The third segment of the event was focussed on innovation and entrepreneurship. Wilenius Oscar from Kouvola Innovation was the guest speaker of this session. He briefly explained and highlighted the possibility of innovations and entrepreneurship in Kouvola with the guidance of Kouvola Innovation. Moreover, he highlighted that the counselling sessions are free of charge and whoever wish to get an insight on innovation and entrepreneurship can meet them with or without an appointment.

To say the least, the Networking Race session was indeed a great boost for those who didn’t have a clear idea about how to build their networks to achieve their job seeking goals. Also, the event was of great support for those who are willing to start their own business as entrepreneurs, in order to reach their goals with the experts in the field.
