A New Chapter in Finland

Exchange view

Vol 28, Issue 01, 12th September 2025

From France to Finland, writing my own story…

My name is Loane Lemair, and I am spending this year in Finland as an exchange student. I come from France, from the city of Rouen. It’s quite different from Finland, especially because my city has much less nature. Here, everywhere I look, there are forests and lakes, and I really enjoy the calm and peaceful atmosphere.

In Finland, I am studying International Business, which is quite similar to a management degree in France. I’m now in my third year at university. This exchange is not only part of my studies, but also a wonderful chance to explore new things and challenge myself.

The first reason I decided to come here was to discover a new country and a new culture. I was curious about how people live in Finland, their habits, and how daily life differs from France. Everything feels so fresh and exciting to me: the landscapes, the school system, and even how people spend their free time. It’s really interesting to compare life here with life back home. I’ve only been here for three weeks, so everything is still very new, and I’m super excited to see what the coming months will bring. I hope to create lots of amazing memories and have incredible experiences.

My second goal is to improve my language skills, especially English. In the future, I want to work in the hotel industry, and speaking several languages is really important for that. This exchange gives me the perfect opportunity to practice English every day and gain confidence in speaking.

These first weeks have already been full of surprises and new experiences, and I know there’s so much more to come. I want to make the most of this year, meet amazing people, and learn as much as I can. I would be thrilled to get to know you and share this adventure together. I also can’t wait to share my journey and experiences with all of you, the readers.

Amazed by this beautiful campus from the moment I arrived…
