What is Nupa? It is a dynamic youth centre in Kouvola where students come together to organize and participate in engaging events. Whether there are prizes involved or simply the joy of taking part, every gathering promises a lot of fun. At its core, Nupa aims to build a strong, inclusive, and international community where international students can connect seamlessly with local Finnish peers. Beyond social events, Nupa offers valuable practical training and internship opportunities, and students who actively organize events can even earn Xamk study credits or awards.

Conveniently located at Kouvolankatu 28, Nupa keeps students connected through a lively WhatsApp group where event details and updates are regularly shared.

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending one of their popular events: a creative collage-making workshop. The task was simple yet inspiring—we were given picture frames and complete freedom to fill them with whatever our imagination produced. A rich variety of crafting supplies was provided, including sketch pens, paints, old magazines, colorful paper sheets, and glue. We were encouraged to tear out images, paint, draw, and assemble different elements into unique multi-layered artworks. It was fascinating to see the diverse range of creativity brought to life by everyone in the room.

One particularly touching piece was created by a student who decided to make a surprise birthday collage for a girl who happened to be celebrating her special day at Nupa. It was a heartwarming gesture that brought a huge smile to her face and earned well-deserved praise from everyone present. Another participant crafted a beautifully aesthetic layout that looked straight off a Pinterest board. From vibrant expressions of a love for food to uplifting, motivational quotes, each collage reflected the unique personality and vision of its creator.
