A Semester Farewell and a Spring Escape to Mustila

As the semester comes to a close and nature bursts into life, it’s the perfect time to reflect and recharge. Recently, I found the ideal place to welcome spring and say goodbye to the busy months behind us — Arboretum Mustila in Elimäki.

Now, the days are growing longer, the trees are blooming, and it’s hard to believe how fast time has flown. It feels like just yesterday we were bundling up in heavy coats, rushing between classes and trying to find our rhythm.

Now, with spring in full swing, nature is reminding us that every ending is just a new beginning. Whether you are heading into an exciting internship, starting a summer job, traveling, or simply taking time to rest, this season is full of possibilities.

If you’re staying around Kouvola or looking for a refreshing break, Mustila is a must-visit. Founded in 1902, it’s Finland’s oldest and largest arboretum, home to trees and plants from all over the world. It’s especially famous for its enchanting rhododendrons and azaleas that bloom in June, filling the forest garden with vibrant colors and sweet scents. A stroll through Mustila feels like stepping into a living painting, full of calmness and inspiration. Plus, Mustila also offers seeds and seedlings for anyone dreaming of growing their own garden.

Looking back, this semester has been a journey – full of challenges, small victories, and unforgettable moments. I’m grateful for the teachers who guided us, the classmates who made tough days easier, and the new friends we’ve made along the way.

As we step into the warmth of summer, I wish everyone a season filled with growth, happiness, and new adventures. May your internships bring you inspiration, your work bring you pride, and your free time bring you joy.
