Duuni Expo: My Experience at a Career-Boosting Event
Vol 27 issue 17 14 February 2025

I recently attended Duuni Expo in Lahti, and it turned out to be one of the most valuable events I’ve experienced as a student. Duuni Expo is a career fair that brings together students from universities like Xamk University of Applied Sciences, LAB University of Applied Sciences and others offering a chance to connect with companies, explore job and internship opportunities, and expand professional networks.
One of the highlights of Duuni Expo was meeting recruiters face-to-face. It was a great opportunity to have direct conversations with potential employers and ask questions about the job market, company culture, and expectations. I was able to learn more about what recruiters look for in candidates and how to improve my chances of landing an internship or job after graduation.

In addition to the networking opportunities, the event also offered insightful workshops and guest speakers. These sessions helped me find my job-seeking skills. I attended a workshop on CV writing, which gave me some fantastic tips on how to make my CV stand out. I also learned about personal branding and how to present myself confidently in interviews. The workshops were not only informative but also practical, helping me build the skills I need to navigate today’s competitive job market.
Something I found especially helpful was the chance to explore different industries. I hadn’t considered some career paths before, but after speaking to representatives from various fields, I realized there were opportunities I hadn’t thought of. It broadened my perspective on what career options are out there.
From my experience, here are a few tips for making the most of Duuni Expo or any career event:
- Update your CV: Before attending, make sure your CV is up to date and tailored to the roles you’re interested in. Many recruiters will want to see it, and you’ll want it to reflect your skills and experiences clearly.
- Perfect your elevator pitch: Have a short and confident pitch ready. Introduce yourself in 30 seconds or less, highlighting your strengths and what you’re looking for in your next role.
- Network actively: Don’t be afraid to approach recruiters and other students. The more connections you make, the more doors you open for yourself.
- Ask questions: During workshops or when talking to recruiters, ask questions. It shows you’re genuinely interested and helps you stand out.
- Stay open to new opportunities: Be open-minded about exploring industries or roles you hadn’t thought of before. You might discover something exciting!
Overall, Duuni Expo was a fantastic event, and I left feeling more prepared and confident about my future career. If you get the chance to attend, don’t hesitate it’s a great way to grow, connect, and get inspired.
