My Student Exchange Experience in Croatia.

Vol 28, Issue 03, 26 September 2025

I was blessed with the unbelievable chance to participate in the EFRI International Business Workshops organized in the University of Rijeka Faculty of Economics and Business in Croatia during the summer. I represented XAMK University and the programme united students representing numerous countries like Slovenia, Greece, Palestine, Bosnia and Bulgaria. It was indeed a multicultural experience that extended way beyond the classroom.

The lectures were in the afternoon and we had enough time to visit the city and have fun in the beautiful Croatian coast. Rijeka also has its share of beautiful beaches and we indeed took advantage of them. The best part of the exchange was perhaps the midnight and daytime swimming sessions we took together. These experiences have brought us together as a team and have formed friendships that I believe will endure over a long period of time.

Team trips into other cities in Croatia were also organized. The fact that we were traveling in a group was exciting and I needed to learn more about the national culture as well as have an opportunity to taste local food and attractions. Such experiences helped to make the programme more special and it was not only an academic exchange but a journey.

During the interactive workshops (more than 56 hours) I was able to learn so much about Business and International Negotiation, Communication Strategies and Presentation Skills.

The sessions were practical hands on and under the guidance of experienced professors such as Tomislav Galovic and Hugh Clack who made the sessions interesting and relevant. The diploma certificate granted to me by undertaking the programme is also a brilliant addition to my academic accomplishments.

I can strongly recommend this programme to every student who desires to go international and be exposed to people of other cultures and get a different combination of education and adventure. It was my life changing experience because it enabled me to grow both professionally and personally.

If you ever get the chance to apply do it!
