Are you drinking coffee every day? Maybe two or three times a day? If you are in Finland, then yes.

Fins are the world’s biggest coffee drinkers. Maybe it’s cold weather, a long dark winter, or only because they love it.

But today we are not here to discuss general information or how much coffee you drink. We want to talk about the surprising facts behind this popular drink.

Let’s go!!!

  1. Double energy:
when you feel tired actually your brain produces a chemical called adenosine, which makes you feel sleepy. Now if you sleep or drink a cup of coffee you help your brain block these receptors and feel fresher.
But wait, there is an interesting fact, if you take a short nap right after drinking a cup of coffee for about 20 minutes, you get double energy because some of these chemicals blocked by nap and some by coffee. This fact called coffee nap.
  2. Coffee beans or seeds?
Do you ever think where does coffee come from? Most people think that coffee is made from beans but it’s not true, coffee comes from a kind of berry’s seeds and it’s a coffee seed.
  3. What espresso means?
do you think that people call this kind of coffee espresso because of is prepared fast? You are wrong espresso is the Italian word ‘esprimere’ which means to express, to represent, to convey in the Italian dictionary, and this relates to how espresso is made-by forcing hot water through coffee seeds under high pressure to “express” its rich flavors.
  4. Coffee-cam or webcam?
This is a very interesting fact about coffee. Do you know that the first webcam was invented to monitor a coffee pot?
Let me tell the story, in 20’s century some researchers at Cambridge University put a little camera on their coffee machine in the break room and connected it to the network and after that to their computers to check when is the coffee ready from their room.
At first they called it coffee cam but then they figured out this could be used for many other purposes and it evolved into what we now call webcam.

These are just some of the coffee facts, do you know more about that?

Hope you enjoy it.
