The Pozo de los Umos waterfall, located in the province of Salamanca, is situated within the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. This stunning waterfall on the Use River, near Masueco and Perena de la Ribera settlements, is formed by a 50-meter height difference and creates a steam cloud resembling smoke. You can reach it by two simple hiking routes from both locations.

The Salto del Nervión waterfall, on the border of Burgos province, is located in the Ordunia mountain range. This waterfall, with a height exceeding 270 meters, is one of the largest and most beautiful in Western Europe. You can see it from a specially equipped observation deck overlooking a deep gorge. To reach it, you must drive to the former mountain refuge by car and then walk for only two kilometers.

There are several stunning waterfalls in the province of Burgos, one of which is the Orbaneja del Castillo waterfall. This waterfall is located in a picturesque area where the Ebro River canyon creates a breathtaking landscape, with water flowing among rural houses on the slopes of the valley.

Another example is the Pedrosa de Tobalina waterfall, located in the Las Merindades comarca. Although it may not be the same height as some other waterfalls, it stands out for its width, which exceeds one hundred meters, making it a truly picturesque sight. Walking in these areas, one can see how the relief and speed of the water flow changes due to the twists and turns of the river. Here, the water runs slowly, murmuring happily, and then it falls noisily, creating multi-level waterfalls. The largest one has a height of almost 40 feet!

In Huesca province, on the territory of Ordesa National Park, you can find the Cola de Caballo waterfall. This is one of the most popular hiking routes in the Pyrenees, and the ascent to it takes about three hours from the village of Torla. Access to this waterfall can be limited during certain times, so it’s best to check the latest information before planning your trip.

And the most beautiful, in my opinion, in Navajas (Castellón province), is the picturesque Brasal waterfall, which has a height of over 30 metres. It is also known as The Bride’s Waterfall; according to legend, in old times, on the day of a wedding, the newlywed couple had to jump across the river to ensure a successful marriage, but one bride slipped and pulled the groom with her as he tried to save her.

This place is very popular, especially in the summer, but in summer, when the heat is intense, the waterfall dries up and only small trickles trickle down from above, although the water is still icy and clear. Large fish can be seen swimming at the foot of the waterfall, and many people enjoy swimming there.

It is best to visit our waterfalls during spring, after the rivers have flooded, or in autumn, after heavy rains. At these times, they come alive, filled with water, and look especially impressive. Standing next to them is truly breathtaking and gives a sense of freedom. To reach the beauty, one needs to take a not-so-direct route, sometimes even through mountains. Entrance to some of the waterfalls is paid, but I didn’t want to even think about that for the sake of the beauty and emotions that these places provide.
