Editorial – Business as usual?

Welcome (back) to the autumn semester 2023. After the chaos of the last few years, and a reduced presence of Insider, we are now full steam ahead for the coming academic year.

During the pandemic years, we were unable to bring Insider out in print format, mainly due to the fact that our campuses were empty, and also no possibility to print. Last semester we took the decision not to resume our printed editions of Insider, but to concentrate on the web version instead. It seems that more and more students are studying online these days, and that of course impacts as to whether we will bring you the printed edition in future. We will continue to bring you stories from Xamk, and hope that students from all campuses will participate, writing articles and sharing news from Kotka, Mikkeli, and Savonlinna as well as Kouvola. We also welcome three new members to the Insider Editorial Team, Ekaterina, Anton, and Rifat.

This autumn we welcome new degree students to the four campuses from Finland and around the world. Additionally, we of course also have exchange students who will be with us for 1-2 semesters. Hopefully your studies will bring you close together both academically and socially, and that there will be many friendships formed that will last your lifetimes. Who knows, there may even be romantic attachments that turn into lasting relationships!

Whatever your status, whatever your degree programme, you are all welcome to join Insider and participate in sharing stories, news, info, interests or whatever you think other students would be interested in hearing about. You can contact us at the normal e-mail: insider@xamk.fi During the autumn semester, the Insider team will have visits to the campuses of Xamk, promoting Insider, and looking for new members to the editorial team. Keep a look out for those and come along and say hello when we visit your campus.

For now, new students enjoy this new and exiting stage in your life, continuing students keep up with your studies and remember that your studies will be over sooner than you think – so make the most of this time, and staff of Xamk, let’s continue to facilitate, support, and help our students achieve their goals!
