Why do you need an air humidifier?
Vol 27, Issue 8, 8 November 2024
Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. When there is more water vapor, the humidity level is higher. This can affect how comfortable we feel, especially for children.
The optimal temperature and humidity for a child’s comfort is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 40 to 60 percent. During the heating season, when the air is often dry, it’s important to monitor the humidity and take steps to keep it at a healthy level. An air humidifier can help maintain the ideal humidity level in your home. It can help you create a comfortable environment for your child and prevent any potential health issues related to dry air.
There are several types of humidifiers available: steam, traditional, and ultrasonic. A traditional humidifier uses a simple device to drive air through a filter that is constantly soaked in water, resulting in moist air. A steam humidifier converts water into steam and disperses it as tiny water droplets in the air. Ultrasonic humidifiers create fine water mist using high-frequency vibrations, effectively humidifying the air. Choosing the right humidifier depends on personal preference. The most crucial factor is ensuring that the humidifier maintains the desired humidity level in the room where it is used.
What are the dangers of dry mucous membranes?
Dry air can lead to the thinning and even cracking of mucous membranes, making them more vulnerable to infection. People with dry mucous membranes are at a higher risk of becoming sick than those with moisturized mucous membranes. Dry air is particularly dangerous for people with allergies and asthma, as dust particles can cause obstruction and bronchospasms. A humidifier can help to weigh down these particles and prevent them from floating in the air, reducing the risk of these problems.
In adults, hypoxia can cause frequent headaches, difficulty concentrating, and increased fatigue. In children, lack of oxygen can lead to irritability, mood swings, and sleep problems. A child may cry for reasons other than teething or magnetic storms, such as hypoxia. If hypoxia is combined with dry air, it can cause sleep problems, such as waking up frequently or having difficulty falling asleep. The child may also drink more water or milk while sleeping, which may not be related to hunger. This could be due to dry mucous membranes caused by low humidity in the air.
Considering the variety of options available in online stores and electronics hypermarkets, selecting a UV may seem like a challenging task. However, with a thoughtful approach, several factors should be taken into consideration.
In addition to the obvious budget constraint, there are other factors that need to be considered:
– The size of the room and preferred humidity level (taking into account interior decor, plants, and animals)
– Quality and chemical composition of water supply (if untreated water is used, negative effects on respiratory system may outweigh benefits of humidification)
– Frequency of small children’s presence in the room (if present, it’s better to exclude models with thermal steam generation)
– Availability of replacement parts (filters, etc.) for future purchase
– Need for automatic UV controls or a simple non-programmable model
An air humidifier is a relatively affordable device that can greatly improve the health of your family and make your home more pleasant!!
