No limits = New opportunities
Hello dear readers!
This article is specifically to share my experience finding an internship as a freshman.
Months ago, I participated in a hackathon which was organized by XAMK. Overall, I did great in it, and in the end, I received two credits and a 50€ voucher to spend in Lamykins cookhouse restaurant in Kouvola. Great deal, right?
Yet, that wasn’t all that I got. After a couple of weeks from the hackathon event, I received an internship offer from one of the hackathon organizers.
Actually, I’m an intern in the marketing team in the ESGE PROJECT (ESPORT GAMING ECOSYSTEM) made by the RDI department of XAMK.
This is their official website (here), in which you can change its language from Finnish to English, where you can find more about the project, and maybe you’ll be interested in joining our network.
And by the way, there is another hackathon that will be held soon. It’s called Green Future Hackathon, and it will be from February 4th to 6th. The event collaborates with EIT Raw Materials (European Institute for Innovation and Technology) Young Innovators program by Nuori Yrittäjyys NY –Junior Achievement JA. Besides, ITMO UnIversity students from St. Petersburg will be attending the hackathon. In the end, the participants will receive 2 study credits and a voucher for restaurant meals.
If you want to read more about it or to register for the event, use this website: here.
Anyway, my message that I want to send you today is: CREATE YOUR OPPORTUNITIES. Don’t wait in a corner for something to come to you because this is not how it works in real life. I’m not sure if I would have gotten an offer if I hadn’t taken the hackathon in the first place. Therefore, I highly recommend participating in such an event to widen your opportunities horizon.
You will at least expand your network, even if you might not get an internship offer, which is also crucial for your studies and your future.
I’m delighted with my internship, and everything so far is going as planned. I’m looking forward to learning and contributing with my knowledge.
Once again, don’t limit yourself and let yourself discover new things because you will never know what you might get.
That was all, thank you for your reading!
