Amazing Student Race Kouvola: My Experience..

On 24th September I joined “Amazing Student Race Kouvola”. Organized by Kouvolan Kaupunki. In this week’s feature I will talk about what I did in that competition. Where did I went, what did I achieved and what problems I faced during the competition.

Destination 1-4: first 4 destination was at the Manski pedestrian street. There were organization’s stands such as: International House of Kouvola, Student Union Kaakko.

We did several challenges at each destination. For example, searching for a job application that you can apply. Or creating triangles with matches. The staff were so kind. And I even achieved a thermos from spinning wheel !!

Destination 5: The fifth point of the competition was at the “Ohjaamo Kouvola”. It is a youth center that serves people between 12-28 ages. It is a great place to visit if you are between these ages. I go there in my free time too! You can see the place at the title. It is the main photo.

Destination 6: Sixth point was “Kouvolan Pääkirjasto” it is the main library of Kouvola. The building was big and it was crowded inside. I think the crowd was usual, not for the event. And they wanted us to order the books alphabetically. As a winner, I got overall badge. 

Destination 7: seventh point was in front of the “Kouvolan Kaupungintalo”. It is the municipal building of Kouvola. Because of the bad weather conditions, they moved their stand to inward. We threw some rings to sticks. Winner gets to choose its reward. I choose overall badge again for my collection.

Destination 8: The 8th point was “Kouvolan Keskuskirkko” it is the main church located at the north-western side of the city center. They served us a drink! And they invited us to a spiritual meeting as I remember. I couldn’t attend that event because I lost the info paper they gave to me 😂

Destination 9: Yes, this is the point where the things get challenging. Me and my teammate were gone to the exact location that marked at the map… We couldn’t find anything. And searched the surrounding areas as we thought that we might be the one made the mistake. And typed the location to the google maps, went to the location where it says, it was a private house. A random granny opened the door and said “I don’t know why you are here”.

After searching more, we gave up and went back to the centre. And it found out that the person who should be there, packed up its goods and leaved as he thought that there were not any groups left.

They apologized, and it was the time to announce the awards of the whole event! The winners announced by draw. We didn’t achieve anything.

Though there were challenges, I think it was a great experience that having a chance to tour Kouvola’s marking places. See you next week’s issue !! 😎✌️
