Vol 29, Issue 07, 30th October 2026

On the 28th of the October there were event organized by Kupla Ry. It was Halloween themed sitsit event. Students wear various Halloween costumes and come to the event. The event was placed in Kellomäki, Kouvola.

For attending the event, students had to buy tickets. These tickets are sold in student event app called “Kide.app”. The event place was well organized with spooky style. There were plenty of seats taken for event. The organizers gave each participant a seat, a plate with student’s name on it, a guidebook that has rules and song lyrics in it, three different sized glasses that decorated like ghost, dessert bag filled with candies and an overall patch.

The sitsit events are for drinking alcohol (a lot), singing and having fun. There are nearly 40 Finnish/Swedish songs that everyone sings at the same time even though not everyone knows these languages. If someone losts the rhythm, the song must be repeated from beginning. After every song, students cheer their drinks (skål) and drinks them.

But the event is not only that, but there are also bunch of funny punishments for those who don’t obeys them. For example, if you check on your phone during the sitsit, or talk unnecessary, you got punished. The punishments are decided by the organizers.

If you tap your glass to someone’s glass during “skål” -which is a cause of punishment- you must tell every student that you are sorry one by one. Or do catwalk in front of everybody. These are only couple of the punishment examples out of all others.

After the event, there were after party in House of Rock. Where a competition happens. So, most of the students went there after the event. It was free to join. Before the competition, student had their fun and danced trough the night. The competition is about who has the best clothes in Halloweenish style.

Unfortunately, the winner remains a mystery, as the author of this article (Hüsnü Turan) had to head home, knowing that an early lecture awaited him the next morning. Academic responsibilities strike again 😀
