A Success Story

student story

It was a very impressive movement to talk with a student who had a remarkable achievement during her study period. She was awarded by the Professional Languages and Communication Society Proflang ry for her outstanding academic achievement.

She is Chathurika Peris. Chathurika Peris is a nursing student at XAMK Kotka Campus. She came to Finland with her family last year in Autumn 2022 from Sri Lanka to start her studies in the Nursing stream. She was an extremely motivated learner who showed potential the moment she set foot on campus. She is a good team player and an active member of any group. She never allowed herself to miss an assignment due and, for the most part, consistently got the best grades. She not only performed academically but also in her career life. She was able to join as a part-time nursing student in the Sairaanhoitajaopiskelia Government Nursing Home in Helsinki.  She has demonstrated her ability to work diligently for the hospital without interfering with her academic pursuits.  This is one of the best pieces of evidence to prove her dedication and commitment.

When we talked about her family life, she is a mother of two lovely children, and she has a very supportive husband. The success in her life always carried with her family. Being a mom is not an easy task to balance with study and work life altogether. Her husband is always behind and encourages her to go with her targets. She currently lives in Espoo; however, the distance was not a problem for her, and she managed to travel to Kotka for her lectures.

It is quite exciting to know the way she balances her student life, work life, and family life together successfully. I believe her journey as a student can serve as a great source of motivation for other students as well and I wish her all the very best for her future achievements.
