Summer job
I had something else on my mind for you this week, but I decided last minute to change it and write about summer jobs because right now is the time to apply for them, if you want one for the summer.
Applying for a summer job should start as soon as possible, at the beginning of the year. Large companies will start recruiting early in the year, but many smaller companies will only recruit summer workers later in the spring.
Where can I find summer jobs and how to approach an employer?
There are many places where you can find summer jobs. If you know how to use google search, you will surely find a summer job!
The question is how fast you are with all the applications. If you leave this for the last day, the same way you leave your exam revision, you may find yourself without a summer job.
A summer job is like an entrance exam! Lots of applicants, but limited spaces.
· You should always send your application and CV as requested in the job advertisement, and the sooner you act, the better.
· Keep your application concise and check the spelling of your application – there should be no typos.
· Remember to bring out your personality.
A CV is like a business card! If your CV doesn’t look good, GO FIX IT, the sooner you ask for help, the sooner you’ll be able to get a summer job.
You should keep your mind open about summer jobs, the most important thing is to gain experience.
If you can’t find summer job, then it’s not the end of the world, you had a tough year of study behind you. You can also rest.
If you don’t speak Finnish, that is not an obstacle either. Finland is starting to be really internationla. Send applications!
Next week I’m going to write more about how find a summer job and what things you need to take into consideration.
Sincerely yours,
