Trip to Kotka
Vol. 25, Issue 23, 14 April 2023
Kotka is a city in Finland, located in the province of Kumenlaakso, on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. This beautiful city attracts tourists with its beautiful nature, historical sights, and many other interesting places.
The city of Kotka was founded in 1878 and quickly became one of the main shopping centers of the region. It is known for its fishing ports where you can find seafood. There are also many shops in the city where you can buy souvenirs and local products. One of the main attractions of Kotka is the museum “Kotka Old City”, which is located in the heart of the city. This museum allows visitors to learn more about the history of the city and its development, as well as about the traditions and culture of the region. In the museum, you can see many exhibits, including paintings, photographs, furniture, clothing, and other items related to the history of Kotka. I have been in it, so I was very impressed by the objects that were inside and I recommend for everyone to visit this building.
Another interesting place that will be interesting for both adults and children is the Sapokka Zoo, which is located on the outskirts of the city. In the zoo, you can see a lot of animals, including bears, foxes, deer, rabbits, and many others. There is also a cafe and a restaurant where you can relax and enjoy the local cuisine.
In Kotka, you can also find many parks and walking areas where you can enjoy beautiful nature and spend time outdoors. And I advise you to come to Kotka both in summer and in winter because, at different times of the year, these places are perceived differently. One of the most popular parks is Kotka-Khuvila Park, which is located on the banks of the Kotka River. Here you can take boat trips, as well as visit local museums and galleries.
Haukkavuori Observation Tower is one of the main attractions of Helsinki, Finland. It is located in Sompaasaari Park on the south coast of the city and is one of the tallest buildings in the city. The height of the tower is 72 meters, which allows visitors to enjoy an amazing view of Kotka and the Gulf of Finland. The observation tower was built in 1969 and has since become one of the most popular places for tourists and residents of the city. The tower can be reached by elevator or stairs, allowing visitors to enjoy views of the city and the surrounding area on each floor. On the top floor, there is an outdoor area with a stunning view of Finland.
But this tower is open only in the summer for visits only in the summer period – from May to August. Haukkauwori works from eleven to eighteen. In July, the duration of work is increased, the inspection can begin at ten in the morning and until late in the evening. So in July, there is an opportunity to enjoy the view of the night city and its surroundings. There are many hotels and inns in Kotka where you can stay overnight. Most of the hotels are in the city center and offer a convenient location for tourist trips. Moreover, there are many shops in Kotka where you can buy souvenirs and local products. Among the popular souvenirs are local sweets, sea fish, and other products.
Thus, Kotka is a wonderful city that is worth a visit to anyone interested in Finnish culture and history. There are many interesting places to visit, as well as many opportunities for recreation and entertainment.
