Hello everyone, my name is Palak. I am currently a full-time student at South Eastern Finland University of applied sciences, enrolled in Bachelor of Business Administration, business analytics (Xamk). Today I would like to do a little introduction about my journey from India to Finland and how I end up choosing my business major. My home country is India, where I live in the northern state called Haryana where I completed my schooling. I am a high school graduate, so it is my first time experiencing university life. Things are very new to me so I try to learn as much as I can from my peers and teachers. Till now everything is going smoothly. Hoping to maintain the same rhythm in the future too. I have a science background, so earlier I decided to be a doctor and gave medical entrances exam like IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test), NEET (entrance exam in India) and some university specific and finally got a seat in Wroclaw Medical University in Poland. It is the 3rd largest medical university in Poland, globally recognized by WHO and European union etc. I was an attending student and did my studies online for 2 months while my visa was still processing. But due to the war situations, embassy was rejecting visas and said my purpose for staying in Poland was not valid enough. So back then I was on zero again. I had to start everything from scratch again. Some people recommended me to do nursing, but it was not my calling. Then I made an impulsive decision and decided to change my major entirely. Apart from medicine, I also have a keen interest in Coding. It is very intriguing to me and has a lot of career potential.  Also, from my research I got to know that it has high earning potential and career growth. So, I discussed it with my family and friends. That was when for the first time I got to know about Xamk University from a friend who lives in Helsinki.  She told me that they offer bachelors of business administration course in business analytics, which luckily directly aligns with my future plans. By doing business analytics, I can be a risk analysts, financial analysts etc. I am also thinking of doing a masters in machine learning or data science. So, I did my own independent research on this University, and I got to know about Xamk data lab where students have real world company collaboration, practical learning, flexible environments, and local-cultural integration. It fascinated me and then with the help of my friend I applied to university and did all the formalities. When I finally got acceptance from university, I was highly vigilant this time and did all my process before time. I also went with an advance visa to minimize the risk of visa rejection like last time. So, I was a bit early here compared to my batchmates. But coming early helped me to settle in. I explored the town, got in touch with seniors who gave me a brief guidance and then later on I helped my batchmates too who arrived later. This was a brief about me. If you are still reading thank you for investing your time in this. Have a great day!
