A New Beginning in Finland: Challenges, Growth and New Opportunities

Hi everyone! My name is Fariba, and I’m originally from Tehran, the capital of Iran. I’m very happy to start a new chapter of my life in Finland as a Business Analytics student at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), Kouvola campus. I’m also honored to be part of Insider and excited to connect with you all!

My Academic & Professional Journey

My academic background is in Industrial Engineering. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering. Before coming to Finland, I gained several years of professional experience in the digital payment and financial technology industry, working in business communication, customer relations, sales, and cooperation with corporate and public-sector clients. These experiences taught me valuable lessons in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and understanding customer needs.

Sport Has Always Been Part of Me

Sport has been an inseparable part of my life for many years. During my university years, I was a member of the university Basketball team and achieved several accomplishments in basketball. I also had the opportunity to play professionally in the Iranian Premier Basketball League and later worked as a basketball coach.

Tennis has also played an important role in my life. I have been involved in tennis as a player, coach, and referee. For me, being active is more than a hobby, it gives me energy, motivation, and the mindset to keep moving forward and face new challenges.

I also had my own small business in floral design and flower arrangement in Tehran with a name of “Sol Flower Design”, which allowed me to combine creativity and entrepreneurship.

One of the main reasons I chose Finland was my passion for trying new things, continuous learning, and challenging myself. I wanted to experience an international environment, meet people from different cultures, and grow both personally and professionally.

In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, music, discovering new places, spending time in nature, travelling, reading, staying active, and of course, making new friends.
