From Elation to Adaptation, here is my life journey in Finland
Vol 29, Issue 02, 18 September 2026
Introduction:
Good day, everyone! My name is Jayendra Dhungana and I am originally from Surkhet, Nepal. I currently live in Eskolanmäki, Kouvola. My hobbies are surfing the internet, writing, learning Finnish and walking. I also like to write in short, as it will be easy to remember and read for you all. I recently came to learn about XAMK Insider Magazine, and I knew I had to try it. And here I am now, beginning my writing journey with you all.
I completed my +2 (upper secondary) in 2025. But, after all those years of studying in school, I came to learn that the education system in Nepal wasn’t that good. As I never travelled to countries outside Nepal, I was elated to find that Finland also had the best education system in the whole world. Among them, XAMK sounded the best to me. These are the reasons why I am in Finland today.
The business field has also always been fascinating to me. I have always wondered how money and the credit system works, as well as the economy. With the hands-on experience that I will get from XAMK, I am sure that will make me financially and non-financially capable and that my question will be answered in the best way possible.
One of the things that I am focused at the moment are Internship opportunities and voluntary opportunities. I am hoping that I will soon be able to gain hands-on experience in the business field!
Below is my first article !
Coming to Finland was one of my dreams. So, when I was granted my visa, I was filled with joy. I packed my suitcases with the necessary things, booked my flights and waited. The whole process went smooth as butter.
Elation: After arriving in Finland, I experienced happiness for around the first two weeks. I was overjoyed to meet the new people, experience the new culture, learn the Finnish language, and try out the variety of products and services exclusive to Finland. Everything was good, then I went onto the next phase.
Home “sickness“: I enjoyed the company and the new environment, but I began to find it more and more difficult to get along as the time went by. I had difficulties because I had just been introduced to the new system of, well, everything. Even small things as buying groceries became a huge task. So, I missed the ease of home. But, after this phase, I moved on to the others.
Acceptance and Adaptation: I then accepted the situation. I started learning everything from scratch and even now, I am still adapting to the Finnish environment. But now after I have learned some of the Finnish culture and language, everything is becoming much easier to navigate.

I am very enthusiastic about what is going to be there for me in the future! See you in the next article, have a scrumptious day!
