PROFILE: MARTIN LEONARD

• What is your name and where are you from?  
• My name is Martin Leonard, I am from Namur in Belgium. 

• What do you study?  I study marketing at Henallux University.  I am currently in my second year.  

• Why did you come to Xamk for studies? One of my friends was here before for an exchange program, he told me there that the Xamk is a good school, Kouvola is nice so I decided to choose Xamk and of course, I have always to visit Finland, learn about the Finnish culture and discover new things.  

• What do you miss about Belgium? I miss our student parties with a lot of students. Beer is cheaper in Belgium than in Finland.  I also miss my mum’s food. I have to cook alone here. I have a car in Belgium, so it was easy to go around, in Kouvola we have to use the bus so, I miss my car.  

• How many countries have you visited?  France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Estonia, Mauritius, USA – West coast, Poland, Morocco.  

• What do you like about Finland so far?  The snow, we can ski all day here. The educational system is cool because we are mostly free at the university. We don’t have a lot of classes like in Belgium.  

• Who inspires you the most? Christiano Ronaldo inspires me a lot because he works really hard. He knows what he wants and he always gets his goals by working really hard.  

• What is your passion? I love Football. I am a referee. I have already been on the pitch as a referee for Classico for young players in Belguim.  

• Where would you love to visit in the future after Finland: I would love to go to Thailand and some countries in South America.  

• What would you like to become after studies: I would love to work in my father’s company (he owns a printing company) or I would love to work in Housing agency.
