Field trip to Repovesi National Park

Events, Features, Kouvola

In a region where nature and culture beautifully blend, where culture and customs take inspiration from the natural beauty of its landscape, Repovesi National Park is a paradise to be explored especially because of its richness in landscapes, lakes, and hiking trails.

Repovesi National Park is home to dozens of lakes including seven of the best lake sceneries which can be seen from its three mountains. While a red fox is depicted in the park’s logo, the source of its name Repovesi comes because of the small but pristine Repovesi Lake located at its western border.
As a team building activity of both the study and career planning and Business entrepreneurship courses for Digital International Business Students and some of the exchange students at XAMK, a field trip has been organized on 06th of October 2023.

The day began early at 9:00 a.m. as students boarded the 02 buses with an exciting and adventure-filled environment. The first bus was filled with culturally diverse Digital International Business degree students while the second bus was filled with exchange and diploma students. The route took students through scenic countryside, a landscape changing from urban nature to tranquility of nature and wilderness.
Upon reaching the destination, students were separated into teams and given a team name and a task to be completed as a part of the field trip program to enhance the teambuilding skills of the students as the task required unity, collaboration, and trust among team members.

The park’s beauty and serenity served as an important reminder of the importance of nature and its impact on us students. After enjoying the scenic Ketunlekki Lake, students reached Lapinsalmi campsite to enjoy their lunch while savoring the natural beauty around them. Students were engaged in activities like chopping wood for campfires and some were even brave enough to take a dip in the lake despite the cold weather.

As the day went on, students not only experienced the peace and tranquility of nature but also learned about teamwork, responsibility, and collaboration by navigating through the wilderness as a collective, resulting the excitement and a sense of accomplishment when they finished completing the journey.
As simple as it seems, being outdoors teaches us the importance of nature’s effect on us students as it always acts as a remedy for many complications that arise throughout our academic life. With that being said, one can safely say that the lessons learned on this trip extended far beyond the textbook pages and with gratitude in one’s heart, we look forward to the next adventure.
